Our research is organized around two thematic clusters. All clusters consist of academics with research reputations, and contribute to the department’s teaching at both the postgraduate and doctoral level. The two clusters are: Medical Biotechnology and Environmental Biotechnology.
We are studying on understanding the molecular mechanisms underlying cancer, diabetes and Human Immunodeficiency Virus. Different experimental approaches currently are being used in the laboratory, which include genetics, epigenetics, functional, structural genomics, proteomics, bioinformatics and model systems that range from bacteria to yeast to human cells. We are aggressively working to shrink the timeline toward the discovery of a biological cure for diabetes, building upon these promising outcomes by bridging cell-based therapies with emerging technologies. Our findings continue to be a strong voice for translational research, ensuring that promising findings in the lab that will apply to patients in the fastest, safest and most efficient way possible.
